Frequent causes of dry mouth is dehydration, breathing from mouth, stress or anxiety, smoking, high consumption of acidic beverages like tea or coffee. Again oral hygiene and problems with how the salivary gland work and so you make less saliva. Low saliva production is common as you age so how could you tackle this problem
1. Drinking Water
Ayurveda recommends drinking warm water at the interval of 40 minutes, this will help maintaining the salivary production and avoid the metallic taste of the mouth which will lead to tastelessness. Having warm water 30 mins before meal is a must. If drinking water by itself becomes difficult then you should do something about it. Take 5 to 6 crushes garlic cloves then add them to boiling water. 4. Aloe Vera
Aloe vera the gel which is there in the plant leaf is a very good moisturizer for you mouth. Having aloe vera juice atleast once in a day is suggested.
5. Ginger
Ginger is a well known herb which helps in the secretion of saliva and this cures the dry mouth. Adding ginger to your tea along with clove would help you tremendously.
6. Oral Hyginene
Next point oral hygiene is one the most important factor that can help overcome dry mouth and also tastelessness. Brushing your teeth twice in a day gargling with salt water these are some of the techniques. You should follow a saline wash for your mouth is also recommended for that. You need to blend one cup of warm water with one forth teaspoon of baking soda and one eight teasp oon full of salt. Swish this in your mouth for a few seconds and then rinse it out.
7. Chewing Your Food Properly
We usually hurry up while eating and stuff your mouth with food especially when we are consuming something with love. This causes problems in saliva production and might also lead to some gastro intestinal problem. So chew your food thoroughly well
and try and focus on your food. Keep your mobile and all other devise far away when you are eating your food because of some medicines and side effects of some medicines can cause dry mouth.
Now have some general tips, stay hydrated and go on sipping some fluid throughout the day, brushing your teeth twice daily and using fluoride toothpaste would help eating food in small bites to encourage saliva production and chewing them properly, and avoid caffeinated beverages as it increases the dryness in your mouth.
Use humidifier in your home specially in your bedroom become aware see to it that you breathe through your nose and not through your mouth. Keep in mind this problem can easily be solved.
