5 Best Gaming Headsets of 2023

Vemuda Techno - Hi and welcome to Vemuda Techno. Whether you're absorbed in a lengthy single-player adventure or honing your multiplayer skills, a gaming headset will round out the experience in most cases.

However, finding the best is a difficult endeavor, especially if you want the finest fit for your setup and of course budget.

To assist you in making the best decision, we've compiled a list of the best PC gaming headsets available, along with the lowest prices available. Terms we've considered are performance, comfort, features, design and price.

5. SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless

The Arctis Nova Pro Wireless is another exciting pair of headphones for gamers. These have 10 mm smaller drivers than both the Virtuoso XT and the cloud Alpha, but delivers excellent sound between 10Hz and 40kHz wired and 10Hz to 22kHz wireless.

They also have active noise canceling which can come in handy in a bunch of situations where you need to focus.

The microphone is bi-directional and picks up very little noise, which pairs very logically with the active noise cancellation on the input.

Designwise, these headsets both look and feel premium. It’s constructed out of aluminum and plastic, and feels quite solid and sturdy.

The ear pads use an artificial leather material, but still feels great, however they tend to heat up quite a bit after an hour or two of wear. The microphone is retractable and hides inside the left ear cup inconspicuously.

As mentioned, the leather has a tendency of getting a little hot and sweaty after a few hours of wear, but other than that the headset is quite light and comfortable which usually isn’t the case with wireless headsets.

This model from SteelSeries boasts a battery life of up to 22 hours and the already mentioned noise canceling both for input and output sounds.

This is the most expensive option on this list, and even though the quality both in sound and build is great, it does not justify the price tag. And the final rating ends up at 3.2 out of 5.

4. Corsair Virtuoso RGB Wireless XT

The Virtuoso RGB Wireless XT from Corsair comes with a variety of features. Most notably is however the frequency response, which clocks in double that of typical gaming headsets upwards of 40kHz.

The drivers are as large as Cloud Alpha from HyperX, with 50 mm, and sound clear and crisp. The microphone is omni-directional which means it picks up the sounds around it from all directions.

This will of course have an impact if there is a lot of background noise around you while using it, otherwise it works like any other microphone.

Aside from that, the dynamic range is wide and the vocal clarity is superb, especially in the low-end.

The XT is made almost entirely out of metal, with an aluminum headband and headphones, rocking leatherette-wrapped memory foam cushions. However, while all that metal makes the headset feel very sturdy, it also makes it pretty heavy

As mentioned, this headset is quite heavy at around 380 grams, the shallow cups are also a drawback as it does not isolate as well as other options. The Virtuoso RGB Wireless XT comes however with a bunch of gaming centric features.

The low latency wireless with multi-point technology that allows up to three slipstream wireless devices to be connected at the same time.

The great frequency response makes them useful both for listening to music, watching movies or immersing yourself in gameplay, especially considering the microphone is detachable.

As the name states, they also have RGB lights, a bunch of useful multi-functional buttons and a battery life of up to 15 hours.

The Virtuoso XT got a lot of competition at its price range, which is somewhat fair, but given a few drawbacks that cheaper options have avoided, the price is a little steep. The total score for this model ends up at 3.4 out of 5.

3. Astro A50 Gen 4 Wireless 2019

The A50 Gen 4 is an older model from Astro, but still a worthy pick among gaming headsets.

With the modest frequency response of 20Hz to 20kHz, the 40mm Neodymium magnet drivers leave little to be desired when it comes to sound quality and clarity. The omni-directional voice isolating microphone is no joke either.

The design is quite futuristic, but in true Astro style. Primarily it’s made of plastic with metal bars attaching the headphones and used for adjusting the height and rotating the ear cups.
The lightweight is a great addition to any wireless headset with a big battery pack, as well as roomy, comfortable and deep ear cups.

As mentioned, the plastic construction is very lightweight, but it doesn't make the headset feel flimsy or a loose fit. Actually, Astro has really nailed the adjustability which makes them fit perfectly.

The fabric on the cushioning for both the headband and the ear cups have a velvet texture that feels great on your head over longer sessions of use.

All in all, the A50 Gen 4 is truly a model honing in on the gaming genre, but the most obvious part we haven’t yet mentioned is the base or docking station.

It’s powered through USB, serving as a wireless receiver and charging dock, as well as lending lots of options for connectivity.

Another headset over $300, but with plenty of features and accessories to back it up. Score ends this time at 3.6 out of a total of 5.

2. HyperX Cloud Alpha Wireless

Along with the 50mm chamber drivers and wide frequency response range of 15 Hz – 21 kHz. The sound quality truly is incredible. Music sounds amazing.

They do an excellent job, and are definitely one of the better gaming headsets you can listen to music on as well. Footsteps are crisp and clear, and spatial sound works flawlessly.

The microphone has i bi-directional polar pattern which means it has a very narrow pickup angle thus making it useful for isolating one voice. On top of this, it’s got very good noise-canceling without losing out on sensitivity.

Designed from the very beginning with durability and comfort in mind. Aluminum frame and over ear cushions of memory foam and premium leatherette with a closed back.

The clocks are large and deep, and fit even larger sized ears. The top band is thick and has soft padding underneath. This, combined with the very soft ear cups, creates a really comfy experience that does a fantastic job of noise isolation.

HyperX promises up to 300 hours of battery life while in wireless mode. Even with such a hefty battery capacity, it’s relatively light and comfortable after lon sessions.

The Cloud Alpha is the first headset just shy of $200 to make our list. This is truly a great option in this price range and even beats more expensive options. This scores in total 4 out of 5.

1. Razer BlackShark V2 Pro

The BlackShark has had a few iterations over its timespan, but the V2 Pro is probably the best one to date.

With a frequency response between 12Hz and 28kHz and impedance of 32 ohm, these 50 mm titanium drivers are clear and loud.

The design has stayed pretty much the same, looking rather like industrial ear protection. But with a thick headband and FlowKnit memory foam ear cushions, they feel surprisingly comfortable and solid.

The fabrics surrounding the ear cups feel great and with the cushioning in the headband, you don’t notice the weight in a very significant way.

Although they have closed backs, they seemingly breath very well, as neither heat or sweat is an issue after long sessions of use.

Razer is known for its gaming centric features in all of their products. The BlackShark V2 Pro is no exception to this.

It’s high speed and low latency transmission, supercardioid microphone, advanced passive noise cancellation and THX spatial audio.

Similar to the Cloud Alpha, the price tag is about $200. However, comparing the two, the BlackShark undoubtedly checks more boxes and dots more i’s.

The V2 Pro claims the top of our list as the best overall gaming headset this time around with a total score of 4.6 out of 5.
