This is Thomson's 55 inches 4K QLED TV 55Q55H1001. Inside the box, apart from the TV, you get a standard remote, which has direct buttons to Amazon Prime, YouTube, and Netflix along with an extra button, which can be customised with any application of your choice. The remote also comes with a Google Assistant button.
Apart from this, inside the box, there are two AAA batteries, a wall-mount, two pieces of plastic legs, a user manual guide, an AV cable and a power cord.
On the connectivity front, this TV has 3 HDMI and 2 USB ports. You get both HDMI ARC and HDMI CEC on It. Apart from this, the TV comes with an RF input port, an AV port, an optical digital port, an antenna port and an Ethernet port. This TV comes with dual-band Wi-Fi, built-in Chromecast and Bluetooth v5.0.
If we talk about the built quality of this TV, the construction is pretty good and on three sides this TV is bezel-less. The bottom grey bezel is also slim.
At the centre of the bottom bezel, the Thomson branding is given and just underneath is a physical on/off button.
The legs of this TV, though, constructed out of plastic have a stylish appearance. On the back, the TV is constructed out of high-grade ABS plastic material.
The ports of this TV are located on the sides, which makes it easier to access them. The side profile of this TV is also ultra-slim. Overall, this TV has a pretty smart appearance.
Now, let's talk about the company-given features and specifications. This is a 4K QLED TV that comes with 550 Nits brightness. On this TV, you get to see 1.1 Billion colours. It has the support of, all three Dolby Vision, HDR 10+ and HLG.
The TV comes with a Google TV UI, apart from this, it supports Dolby Atmos and DTS. There are two speakers on it, whose total audio output is 40 Watts.
Its refresh rate is 60 Hz and it comes fitted with the MediaTek ARM Cortex A53 Quadcore processor. For Graphics, it has the Mali-G52MC1 processor.
Now coming to the real performance of this TV; it has a 10-bit dithering panel. The grey uniformity of the TV is pretty good, and, because of this, you get a very clean view of any sports field.
Going by the fact that it has an IPS panel, its contrast is fairly decent! According to the company, its peak brightness is 550 Nits, but in reality, the brightness doesn't go beyond 400 Nits!
However, amongst the budget category TVs, this brightness is considered pretty good, as even in the entry and mid-ranged TVs of the higher brand, you do not get a brightness of more than 380 Nits.
The colour reproduction of this Thomson TV is very good. In regards to colours, this TV beats all the budget QLEDs, except Blaupunkt and Vu Gloled.
On this TV, you get to see Samsung QLED TVs like vibrant and premium colours. These vivid and punchy colours make the picture quality of this TV very attractive so that you get glued to the TV's screen.
And going by the fact that it is an IPS panel TV, the Blacks on it are also pretty good. The SDR performance of this TV is very good, pictures appear much more detailed and sharp. In fact, they are very enjoyable!
Now, coming to its HDR performance, it is also pretty decent. Here, by decent, I mean that the HDR performance of this TV, though, not as good as the costly TVs of Sony, like X90k, is better than most of the QLED TVs in the budget category.
You get pretty good detail clarity even in the HDR dark scenes. On, both, Thomson and Blaupunkt TVs, you can enjoy the Netflix web series comfortably.
You will not feel the urge for fast-forwarding the dark scenes while watching HDR content, as the dark scenes of Dolby Vision and HDR content look satisfactory on it.
If we talk of its viewing angles, they are very good. Even if you watch the TVs from extreme sides, you will hardly notice any colour distortion.
Now coming to is motion handling capacity; As this TV comes with a 60 Hz refresh rate, in the fast action and camera planning scenes you get to see some motion blur, which this TV is unable to control.
And, because this is an IPS panel TV, you will get to see some light peeping out near the edges, but this is not a major issue, it is normal in all IPS panel TVs and is known as an IPS glow.
Now, coming to its reflection handling capacity; If the light will fall directly on its screen you will definitely get to see some glare, which this TV will not be able to stop.
Coming to its audio; it is pretty powerful as it comes with a 40W speaker system. On this TV you get to hear pretty good audio; but don't infer from it, that it will be equal to the sound coming from a premium soundbar as this is not the case.
The audio is sufficiently loud and clear; you can watch this TV even in a big-sized room, without the need for any external soundbar. You can even switch off the screen while listening to music on this TV.
This is an Android-based TV on which you get Google TV UI. The Google TV UI makes your browsing experience simpler and saves time.
The TV has a separate UI for the kids, where they can login and watch only those contents which you set for them. You can also limit their viewing hours.
As this TV is compatible with Google, you can operate all the paired devices with the help of Google Assistant. For video calls, this TV comes with the Google Duo application.
For casting on this TV, you need to connect your phone and this TV to the same network, and, after downloading the Google home application on your phone you can do casting on it.
If we talk about its gaming performance, then, as this TV has vibrant colours, the HDR gaming on this TV is pretty enjoyable.
Though the TV is devoid of features which are related to hardcore gaming, the good graphics and visuals enhance your gaming experience.
If you are not a hard-core gamer, who requires ALLM, high refresh rate and VRR, then, you will enjoy gaming on it, as the TV's response time is decent and you do not get to see any lag or stuttering, while playing games on it.
In the end, I will just say that this is a very good TV and the price at which it is being sold is a steal deal as many inferior TVs are being sold at higher prices.
Now is the time to tell you how this TV stands in front of the Blaupunkt TV. So you can see the picture quality of both these TVs, which is almost similar in every manner.
The best part about this company is that keeping the budget of all consumers in mind, it does minor alterations in the features of the TVs, without compromising upon the picture quality, and, brings only the best picture quality TVs on the market.
If your budget is a bit high, then go with the Blaupunkt TV, on it, you get MEMC, high audio power output and a bit premium design!
But, if your budget is less, then, you can save money by settling for this Thomson TV, which has the same picture quality as the Blaupunkt TV, and, its 40 Watts audio output is also pretty good.
It is a matter of pride for us that an Indian company is making such affordable TVs, here in India, which are capable of beating even the TVs of Chinese giant companies like Hisense and TCL.
The quality of the products manufactured by SPPL company is definitely good, but, on behalf of my viewers, I would like to give them a message, that the secret to the success of any product lies in its aftersales services, so they should try to improve upon their aftersales services and provide the consumers with prompt and satisfactory services.
Their TVs are good and if they follow this guideline, their TVs will definitely gain popularity within no time.
So, this much only for today, meet you in my next post, till then, take care and stay safe.
