10 Reasons Why Android is Better Than iOS

Smartphones have come a long way since they were first introduced in 2002, and as technology continues to progress, we’ll only see more and more advancements over the next few years.

With so many different options on the market today, choosing the best mobile phone in 2022 can be difficult, especially since manufacturers are constantly updating their flagship smartphones to keep up with current trends.

But worry not, here are some tips on how to choose the best Android phone in 2022!

1) Compatibility

The world’s most popular smartphone operating system, Android is available on a range of devices (smartphones and tablets alike) from multiple manufacturers.

No matter what you like to do with your mobile device, there’s an Android out there for you. You can count on lots of compatible apps, too.

2) User Interface (UI)

I’ve used both platforms extensively and I found Android to be more user-friendly, in terms of UI. It’s easier to navigate through features, and you can customize your phone on your own if you were the know-how.

The customization factor gives users a more personal experience with their phones, making them feel like they own it.

3) Customization

This is one of those areas where it’s a draw, because both platforms offer more than you can shake a stick at. At their core, Android and iOS are both built on open-source software.

This means that if you really wanted to, you could dig into their code and mess around with things until your heart was content.

4) Productivity

iOS’s lack of an easily accessible task manager can leave you in a lurch when you try to switch tasks. To save yourself from an interruption, close all open apps by double-tapping your home button and swiping up on each app.

On Android devices, simply press and hold down on any active window until they all start to wiggle. Then tap on Close (the X button) or Back and let them all go.

5) Security

Unlike Apple, which has a known habit of letting its app developers (and even outside researchers) look at how it secures users’ information, Google doesn’t.

Apple’s walled garden approach to security has led to backdoors and other issues that affect all users; while we don’t know much about Google’s security mechanisms, we do know that they haven’t been compromised in such a way.

6) Regular Updates

The platform isn’t one-sided, as Apple fans would have you believe; it has plenty of updates coming down its pipeline.

If a bug needs fixing or an enhancement to be made, Google can push it out immediately, instead of waiting months for approval from an app store.

Moreover, developers enjoy more freedom in creating apps on Android since they aren’t as beholden to Google’s rules and guidelines.

All these factors mean you get better and more frequent updates than you do on iOS devices.

7) Cost

One of our favorite benefits of Android is that it’s free. You don’t have to worry about coughing up a ton of cash for your device.

It only costs what you want to spend on it. It helps keep mobile tech accessible, which we love.

8) Developer Support

As of January 2017, there are more than 2.3 million apps available on Google Play the primary place to download apps for Android phones and tablets.

iOS isn’t far behind with more than 1.8 million applications in its App Store, but when it comes to app selection, it can’t hold a candle to its rival in terms of either quality or quantity.

9) Don’t Like it, Simply Move to another Device

Apple’s walled garden means that if you have an iPhone and don’t like it, you can’t easily move to another device.

On Android, it’s easy to sell your old device or donate it to someone in need.

You can even try out an entirely different phone before purchasing one especially nice if you want a small form factor without getting stuck with a tweener size between big and small handsets.

10) Freedom to Change Carriers or Phones

Unlike Apple’s iPhone, Android phones are mostly open to change. If you don’t like one carrier, you can go find another.

And if you don’t like a phone, you can buy a new one or build it yourself.
