PlayPark Flyff Online shuts down on August 31, 2022
PlayPark Flyff Online will shut down on August 31, 2022, after more than three years of operation.
The server shutdown was announced through the official PlayPark FlyFF Facebook page.
"[W]e will be closing the doors on FlyFF Online servers this August 31, 2022," read the Facebook post.
It added that PlayMall transactions for Flyff Online will stop operations on July 31, 2022.
While this is a sad moment for veteran Flyff Online fans, the Southeast Asia-based game publisher encourages them not to "lose heart," hinting at what appears to be a new project.
"Another door is going to open for FlyFFers very soon! Stay tuned, as the PlayPark Flyff Team are putting the finishing touches on an awesome surprise coming very soon," read the post.
Flyff, also known as Fly for Fun, is a fantasy MMORPG developed by South Korean development company Gala Lab (formerly Aeonsoft & nFlavor).
Flyff is a fairly typical party-based grinding game and efficient play requires cooperation. Its primary distinguishing feature is its flight system; flying is the standard mode of transportation for characters of level 20 or higher.
The online PC game was first released in South Korea back in 2004. The game was then launched in the Philippines in 2005.
Meanwhile, PlayPark picked up the rights to publish Flyff in Southeast Asia in 2018, where it conducted a closed beta test (CBT) in September, followed by OBT in October.
