This is the Vu GLOLED TV, which is available from 50 inches onwards to 65 inches. The 43 inches variant will be launched around Diwali.
These are the prices after Bank discounts and according to the company, these are the inaugural prices, which might get increased after some time.
This series falls below the Vu Masterpiece series. The company has launched this series at an affordable price, especially for those who were unable to buy the Vu Masterpiece series due to budget constraints.
Based on its R&D, the company has introduced an innovative QLED-like technology in this TV. The company says that it has replaced the Quantum Dot Film with a film comprising Phosphorus Nanoparticles.
When the backlight passes through this nanoparticle film, the colours and brightness gets enhanced manifold.
The company says that apart from this glow panel, it has used a glow processor, which in unison enhances the picture quality of this TV.
In addition to this, the TV comes with a 104 Watts speaker system that includes 4 speakers and a DJ-class subwoofer.
The company claims that the speaker system of this TV is very powerful and can be comfortably used even for parties. Music can be enjoyed thoroughly on this TV by logging into your Spotify account.
Though the native refresh rate of this TV is 60 Hz, it gets enhanced to 100 Hz through the technology provided on this TV.
The TV comes with an improved Cricket Mode, and, this time, a dedicated button has been provided for it on the remote.
The company says that this time they have endeavoured to control the motion blur on this TV to a large extent and therefore while watching cricket matches you will be able to track the ball very easily.
The TV comes with far-field microphone, so, you will be able to give direct commands to this TV even without a remote.
According to the company, this TV is also a good option for gaming in the affordable category as it comes with high specifications related to gaming.
So, these were the company-given specifications, now, let's talk about the initial impression of these TVs. In looks, the TV is ultra slim and stylish.
Here at this launch event, the company displayed its 55 inches GLOLED TV adjacent to 55 inches LG Nano cell TV, Samsung Crystal Pro, and, Sony X74K, so that the audience could get an idea of how this TV fared in front of these higher brand TVs
Prima facie, this Vu TV seemed to be brighter than the other TVs displayed there, and, its audio, too, sounded much better than the others
As I was a bit sceptical of the company's settings on the other TVs, I specifically, took the remote of these other TVs and kept them on their best settings for an authentic comparison, still, the brightness on the Vu TV looked the best.
We were able to check only the SDR performance of these Vu TVs as the hall was fully-illuminated and lights were falling directly on the screen.
We were able to obtain this footage with much difficulty, seeing to it, you can get an idea of its picture quality. The colours of this TV are bright and vibrant, and, its brightness is pretty good.
Out of these four TVs, they were only the Sony and Vu TVs, whose picture quality seemed to be closer to each other.
The performance of the Sony TV was also very good, but its brightness was a tad inferior to the Vu GLOLED TV.
The performance of the Samsung Crystal Pro TV was much inferior to, both, Sony X74k and Vu GLOLED TVs.
The LG Nano cell TV was also not seen giving any good performance. LG Nano cell and Samsung Crystal Pro, both TVs, failed miserably to stand even close in performance to Sony & Vu.
If we talk about the viewing angles; Though the viewing angles of Vu TV were satisfactory, they were not as good as that on the Sony TV. The Sony X74K exhibited very good viewing angles as it comes with an IPS panel.
When Dolby Vision videos were played through a pen drive on these TVs, only Vu was able to play the Dolby Vision video smoothly, whereas, Sony, Samsung and LG TVs were unable to play that video.
Their screens turned purplish. Actually, none of the TVs, except Vu, had Dolby Vision support on it. When you watch Dolby Vision videos on Netflix, on a TV that doesn't have Dolby Vision support, then, Netflix limits that Dolby Vision content to HDR.
But when you play Dolby Vision content on such TV directly through the USB, the TV is unable to play that video even in the HDR format. For TVs that do not support Dolby Vision, on them, Dolby Vision videos will look like this.
When Dolby Vision content is played directly through the USB port, it does not get converted into HDR and this is the reason why you will not be able to play Dolby Vision videos on TVs that do not support it.
This is why I always suggest you give preference to those TVs that have Dolby Vision support on them. At very first glance, the Vu TVs displayed here, were giving a very impressive picture quality.
As of now, the 55 inches Sony X74K is being sold for above Rs 70,000, whereas, this Vu GloLED 55 inches TV is being sold at just around Rs 40,000! Despite this vast price difference, the picture quality of the Vu TV was almost on par with the Sony TV.
In addition to this, the brightness and audio of Vu were better, and then, on Vu, we also get the Dolby Vision support, which goes missing on the Sony X74K TV, so this way too, these Vu TVs are a better deal!
Even in a brightly illuminated hall, the performance of these Vu GLOLED TVs was pretty good as their reflection handling capacity is decent. Till the time, the light is not falling directly on the screen, you will not face any issue related to glare.
You can comfortably use these TVs even in bright rooms. These Vu TVs come with an ambient light sensor, which auto-adjusts the brightness of the TV according to the room lighting conditions. If we talk about the audio of the TV, it is definitely very loud with pretty good bass.
As far as its smartness is concerned, it is an Android-based TV, which comes with a Google TV user interface that grants a user-friendly browsing experience. The TV comes with 2 GB RAM and 16 GB internal storage.
So, friends, this was my initial impression of these VU GLOLED TVs. I will bring its full-length review only after testing it rigorously in my studio.
So keep reading our site ! Now, meet you in my next post, till then, take care and stay safe.
