Honor Magic Vs foldable smartphone w/ 7.9-inch OLED unveiled

Chinese mobile brand Honor has unveiled its newest foldable smartphone, the Honor Magic Vs, featuring a 7.9-inch OLED main screen, a 6.45-inch OLED cover screen, and Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 chipset.

The Honor Magic Vs foldable smartphone features a body that is 12.9mm thin and 261 grams light when folded. According to Honor, it is currently the "lightest foldable smartphone" on the market. The device has a symmetrical design with a seamless, gearless hinge created by a single-piece casting process so that it doesn't have any flaws. When unfolded, it intends to produce a "creaseless" screen.

The outer screen of Honor's latest folding smartphone is equipped with a 6.45-inch OLED with an FHD+ resolution (2560 x 1080 pixels), a high 120Hz screen refresh rate, a 1920Hz high-frequency PWM eye protection, HDR10+ support, 100 percent DCI-P3 wide color gamut, 1.07 billion colors, and up to 1200 nits peak brightness.

When unfolded, Honor Magic Vs has a 7.9-inch OLED with 2272 x 1984 px resolution, a 10.3:9 aspect ratio, a 90Hz screen refresh rate, a 1920Hz high-frequency PWM eye-protection, HDR10+ support, 100 percent DCI-P3 wide color gamut, 1.07 billion colors, and up to 800 nits peak brightness.

Hardware-wise, it runs on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ Gen 1 octa-core processor, next-gen Adreno GPU, up to 512GB of internal storage, up to 16GB RAM, and a 5,000mAh battery with support for 66W fast charging.

When it comes to cameras, Honor Magic Vs features a triple-camera setup with a 50-megapixel f/1.8 Sony IMX800 sensor + 50-megapixel f/2.0 ultra-wide-angle sensor + 8-megapixel f/2.4 3x Optical Zoom Camera with LED flash. It also has a 16-megapixel f/2.45 front camera.

Other highlights include an Android 12-based Magic UI 7.0 software, a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, infrared sensor, dual 4G VoLTE, WiFi 6, 5G SA/NSA, dual-band GPS, NFC, USB-C audio, DTS:X Ultra Algorithm, stereo speakers with IMAX Enhanced, and a 3-MIC Stereo Voice Reception.

The Ultimate version of Honor Magic Vs with 16 GB of RAM will be compatible with the newly announced Magic Pen pen, which will connect over Bluetooth.
