Xiaomi just revealed new female humanoid robot at the recent big launch event in Beijing. Xiaomi followed up its fordable news by handing the stage over to Cyber-one. The bipedal humanoid robot joined Lee Joon on stage, greeting the CEO and handing him a long stem flower. It surprised us all.

At first glance, the robot isn't exactly atlas or digit in terms of locomotion. But it's still a promising demo and very much a person in a spandex suit. It's the latest sign of Xiaomi's growing robotics ambitions which began with vacuums and have since expanded to include last year's spa-desk Cyber-dog.
We've seen plenty of consumer brands, flex some robotic muscle at events like this. So it's tough to know, where Cyber 1 falls in. The spectrum between serious pursuit and stage spectacle legend was quick to flex the company's investment in the category. Cyber one's mechanical capabilities are all self-developed by Xiaomi robotics lab. They have invested heavily in the spanning various areas, including software, hardware and algorithms innovation.
There's an extremely broad range of claims here, including the ability to read human emotions, equally broad are the promised real world applications, ranging from manufacturing assistance to human companionship. But that's a long walk, so to speak from this demo for the time being. It probably makes the most sense to view Cyber 1 as something of an analog to say Honda's Asimo a promising experiment. Now lifelike robots are becoming more and more popular in the real world and the latest offering is one of the most impressive. |

Xiaomi revealed its first humanoid robot, a 104 thousand dollar bot named Cyber-one. Cyber-one has arms and legs that allow it to walk just like a real human. While the android is fitted with AI technology, that allows it to detect 45 human emotions. "With AI at its core and a full-size humanoid frame as its vessel, this is an exploration of possibilities of Xiaomi's future technological." said Lee Joon, founder chairman and CEO of Xiaomi Group.
The robot measures 5 feet 9 inches in height, weighs 114 pounds and has an arm span of 66 inches. It was seen shuffling on stage during the event. Albeit with slightly less fluid motion than a real human. Cyber-one supports up to 21 degrees of freedom and movement, and achieves a real-time response speed of 0.5 milliseconds for each degree of freedom, which allows it to fully simulate human movements. Cyber-1 is fitted with an AI interaction algorithm that allows it to perceive 3D space as well as recognize individuals gestures and expressions. According to Xiaomi, the bot can recognize 85 different environmental sounds and 45 human emotions. Cyber-1 is able to detect happiness and even comfort the user in times of sadness.
The exact price for the robot remains unclear although Lee Joon said, it's likely to be in the range of 600 thousand to seven hundred thousand Yuan, about eighty nine thousand one hundred dollars to one hundred and four thousand dollars. While cyber one is Xiaomi's first humanoid robot, the tech giant has previously unveiled a robotic dog called Cyber-dog, the four-legged bot, stands at just 15.7 inches and weighs 31 pounds. And can run at top speeds of 7.2 miles per hour with both remote and voice control. The Cyber Canine can follow its owner, navigate around obstacles and perform other tricks, including begging and shaking a paw. Furthermore, its open source nature will allow developers to build on the design and customize it and even add hardware to suit a variety of different applications. Lee Joon added that Cyber-1 is constantly adding new capabilities.
We think that intelligent robots will definitely be a part of people's lives in the future. So, its actual purpose is to be a slick looking bipedal robot, that can walk pretty well, without falling over or at least without falling over on camera. Xiaomi says that Cyber-1 also has a vision system that can create three-dimensional virtual reconstructions of the real world as well as environmental and emotion classification. Although, you don't need a humanoid form factor for any of that. But why the heck is Xiaomi bothering with any of this, where a tech company with plenty of resources can with a moderate amount of commitment design and build a humanoid robot. |

Building humanoid robots that are robust and real world useful is not something that's been cracked yet. Even by companies with far more experience than Xiaomi.
Through the press release, Xiaomi is actually pretty honest about Cyber-one. The development of Cyber-one is a symbol of Xiaomi's dedication to incubate a technological ecosystem, centered in a single point and connected with the world in ways, never seen before.
Spanning from smartphones wearable devices and smart homes to smart manufacturing, smart electric vehicle and bionic robots, Xiaomi has been constantly exploring and extending its innovations in various scenarios. These technological breakthroughs are also expected to give birth to more application scenarios in other fields: such as industrial robots with improved mechanical performance, companion robots with emotion recognition and public service robots powered by big data and cloud computing.
Cyber-one's technology will also be applied to more and more Xiaomi products in the future. Cyber-one is a symbol. Its development is expected to give birth to more application scenarios in other fields and that cyber one's technology will also be applied to more and more Xiaomi products in the future to us. It's not a first step toward any practical applications but rather a way of exploring possibilities with technology that may have useful applications elsewhere which seems perfectly reasonable.
The launch of Cyber-one comes just weeks before the eagerly anticipated launch of Tesla's first humanoid robot Optimus. Optimus will be 5 foot 8 and weigh 125 pounds is set to include, the autopilot computer used in the company's electric cars which will allow the humanoid to recognize real-world objects. Although the robot will have its own customized sensors and actuators. It will also be able to dead-lift up to 150 pounds, carry 45 pounds, walk five miles per hour and have human-like hands, plus visual sensors, giving it the ability to see. Optimus will be unveiled at Tesla's AI day event on September 30.
