Globe At Home to debut 'fiber-to-the-room' technology
Globe Telecom has announced that it is set to become among the first telecommunications providers in Southeast Asia (SEA) to launch innovative fiber-to-the-room (FTTR) technology following successful testing.
According to Globe, FTTR is the first choice for digital transformation in the home, as it provides an ultra-fast, ultra-seamless WiFi connection with exceptionally low latency. It is ten times faster, has ten times the range of a traditional WiFi network, and can support up to 128 device connections.
This is one of the innovations offered as part of Globe's push for built-in broadband in housing developments, in collaboration with a number of the nation's largest homebuilders and real estate developers to increase the adoption of ready connectivity.
Globe At Home's new solution will help subscribers maximize WiFi signals and avoid dead spots in large spaces, homes, and buildings with multiple thick concrete walls and floors and with too many connected devices.
With FTTR-enhanced GFiber Unli plans, the digital experience at home will reach an entirely new level.
Janis Racpan, Head of Globe At Home Brand Management, said that the internet is now being used "to maximize connectivity in intelligent homes." And with the introduction of FTTR, the new technology will "further elevate their [customers] digital lifestyle at home."
The pandemic has facilitated digital adoption, making FTTR a crucial element for homes seeking the best internet connectivity on the market.
The technology aims to create an all-optical WiFi infrastructure for the entire home. It extends fiber to every room and enables gigabit WiFi 6 to create an entirely new digital experience.
