Technique

The motifs were selected and traced on the fabric. It is executed by the well-trained tracers, called Naquashband who follows the ancient procedure of tracing.
The stitches named darning stitch, Stem stitch, satin stitch, and special Stitches like chain stitch, buttonhole, openwork, and goldwork are used in kashida embroidery. 
The famous motifs used in kashida represent natural aspect which includes rich flowers of the region, birds like magpie, Kingfishers, butterflies, Maple leaves, almond, cherries, grapes and plums, and Cypress corn. The embroidery is revealed in shawls as well as in cottage industries performed by every member Of the family. Kashmiri embroidery is specifically practiced by men of the family and is commercial-based craft.
